Harmon as Hall

The Texas Frontier Heritage & Cultural Center™ presents:

Captain Lee Hall - Texas Ranger

Who was Captain Lee Hall of the Texas Rangers? If you don’t know, you need to attend this lecture to find out! If you do know, you may discover more to the man than you thought. Hall was a friend to the writer O. Henry and an Indian agent to Quannah Parker. He also indicted the notorious gunslinger John King Fisher, tracked down the no less notorious outlaws Sam Bass and Wes Hardin, and finally broke up the Sutton Taylor feud after thirty homocides.  His friend Frederic Remington called him a “gentleman of the Southern Soldier type.”

Your host for this month's presentation has a similarly adventurous résumé. Ron Harmon has created and then sold his own plumbing company; studied mechanical engineering and architectural design; built or restored numerous homes; served as Historical Park Director for the city of Farmers Branch; was a founding board member of Texanna Living History; and has portrayed numerous historical characters, primarily Davy Crockett, Lee Hall, and Thomas Keenan, in first-person performances in several states and for countless dignitaries including two presidents and Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain. Now retired from all this activity, he looks forward to giving you the lowdown on Captain Lee Hall.

ONE OF MANY LOCAL EVENTS OF

Our ongoing Chautauqua Learning Series is based on the Chautauqua movement which spread throughout the rural United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It provided educational lectures and entertainment for average Americans before the advent of mass media like radio and television. The Texas Frontier Heritage & Cultural Center™ is proud to continue the spirit of that tradition in the unique setting of the Buffalo Gap Historic Village.

The Grady McWhiney Research Foundation would like to say Thank You to our honored supporters for helping us make the Chautauqua experience available to our community: The Dian Graves Owen Foundation, Judd White ~ CBS Insurance LLP, and Red Steagall.
