Our ongoing Chautauqua Learning Series is based on the Chautauqua movement which began in Chautauqua, New York, in 1875, and spread throughout the rural United States in the following years. It provided educational lectures and entertainment for average Americans before the advent of mass media like radio and television. The Texas Frontier Heritage and Cultural Center™ is proud to continue the spirit of that tradition in the unique setting of the Buffalo Gap Historic Village. Unless otherwise noted, each presentation is held in the Vilalge Gallery. Click the links below for details about specific lectures.

This project is supported by a grant from the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council,
the City of Abilene, and the Texas Commission on the Arts.
