Development Plan

The Texas Frontier Heritage & Cultural Center™ is, as the saying goes, a work in progress. The Foundation is constantly looking for funds to restore and/or renovate its historical buildings. A preservation architect has submitted an evaluation and estimate for all the structures. The focus of our short term fundraising goals:

Renovation of the 1880 Reddell/Boone House, just outside the main Buffalo Gap Historic Village area, is now complete. The building provides more accomodation for visitors or conference attendees in addition to The Parsonage. But other projects remain to be done:

Funds needed to restore the 1905 Nazarene Church in the Village: $70,000. This is a key revenue source, since it is a popular site for weddings.

Restoration of the 1880 Marshall Tom Hill House, the first lumber-constructed residence in the region: $100,000.

Roof heating and cooling system for the Mercantile and Texas History Store: $20,000.

The long term development goals of the Village are depicted in a master site plan drafted by the architectural firm of Weatherl and Associates.
