Texas military history would be incomplete, of course, without books on the most famous battle in Texas history, the Alamo. State House Press has published a number of books on the Alamo, including the photo essay The Illustrated Alamo 1836. Most recently we have released two new approaches to that conflict, Gary Zaboly’s collection of contemporary newspaper accounts and Phil Collins' description of his one-of-a-kind collection of Alamo memorabilia.

Our general titles in Texana cover everything from law and order gone astray in early Houston to perennial favorites like Elmer Kelton's book of Christmas memories, the first title in our Texas Heritage series.

Our interest in military history is expressed not only in our Civil War books, but also in books on the military history of Texas.
